Family/Friend Letters

Ode to Falisha

Friday, March 27, 2009

Hey Fal,

We've been together for 13 years now? Wow! Remember those awesome days at my house for lunch in high school, or in cheerleading when my sister couldn't do a cartwheel, and I was almost a toothless babe? I just want you to know I deeply admire your courage in life. You've always gone off on your own and tried for things that I'm too afraid to do. Things always worked out for you in the end, and I love that you can handle it without crying your eyes out like me! I've always wondered how people maintain their sanity when Lil Miss Emotions is over here crying over a commercial about abused pets.

Somehow you managed to check out of the dating scene early, everyone said it would be me first because I always have a boyfriend, but little did they know, I wasn't ready for it! I'm thinking Jess will be next and then I'll find some old rich man who is going to keel over any second, so I can go to grad school without any worries. Anyway I am so happy for you and who you've become. One of my wishes is to be able to be as determined, and as good a wife and mother as you are. Hopefully I can make it!

I still want to have our jam sessions on your new piano. I'm so jealous of your baby grand. Arnim is the best husband ever for that one! You can sing and I will play, and you can get mad because I suddenly have retarded hands when someone is singing. Not my fault, they control themselves at the piano.

Falisha I'm so glad that we never grew apart, even though sharing a room really drove us insane. We've had some awesome times together, and you still try to maintain our friendship even though you're busy with your family, and life gets crazy. I am so lucky to have you as a friend.

Love you,

Lans

And to make sure others don't feel left out...

This letter is to one of my other brothers who currently has never received a lovely blog letter from me!

-------------------------

Dear Cory,

Make me a nephew. I don't care if you're still in school and poor. I WANT A NEPHEW!
So... make me a nephew!

Love,
Your awesome twin sister that came out 2 weeks later.

PS. Isn't modern medicine amazing to be able to let me stay in 2 weeks longer than you!

-----------------------

Disclaimer : Everyone of my neices is adorable and I love them, including the two that are on the way! I love them already... but I would also like a nephew to be on the way.

Letter to my brother...again.

I know the original plan was that this was supposed to be a reoccurring thing where I wrote a letter to each member of my family, but so far the only one I write to is my brother Bryce. So here goes Letter to Bryce #3.

----------------------

Dear Bryce,

Remember this?

Don't worry, even though I look like I'm in a lot of pain, freezing from hose water, sad, and like I'll hate you one day for this, surprisingly, I just love you! Not to mention I haven't forgotten that one day you're painting a mural in my house. I don't care if you haven't painted in years. YOU WILL PAINT A MURAL IN MY HOUSE. Ok? Please?

I'm so glad things are looking up and am so proud of you for the strong person that you are!

Love your crazy baby sister,
Lulu Beans

Happy Birthday Bryce! 26...wow! I just want you to know I love you, and I think you're great. I hope you have a great birthday today. Also, I really enjoyed seeing you this week at mom's. You were a lot of fun. I know this letter is short, but I just saw you a couple days ago so I hope you don't mind! Have a great next couple weeks and I'll see you at Christmas!

Love,

Your baby sister.

Best text conversation ever...

B: Hey Lana how are you?

L: Hey Brandon, I have one more paper to write and then I'm done!

B: What is it on?

L: Feminist therapy.

B: Lesbian!

L: When you get back I'm going to smash your fingers in the door.

B: Well it's hard to slam my fingers when your hands are broken.

L: It's hard to break hands when your arms are sliced off at the elbow.

B: Good luck finding my arms when your eyes have been scooped out with a rustry grapefruit spoon.

L: Oh so you're going to use the spoon I've stabbed into your heart in such a strategic way that if it's moved you die?

B: Haha! Fine, you win this round!

L: You just made my day

B: You usually make my day.

L: And that made me smile.

B: and THAT made me smile.

Letters to my family and friends.

Sunday, October 26, 2008

I'd like to start writing random letters to people on here. I don't know if they'll read it but someone will. It's just a random thought I had today as I was relaxing. I realize I never see my family and it's hard to keep up with people I care about and I love them.

I started with my mom a few weeks ago. This next letter is for my brother Bryce. He may never read it but I know someone in my family will so they can pass the word along.

-------

Hey Bryce,

It's your little sister here. How are you? How's things? I know things have been stressful quite often lately, and I want you to know I think about you all the time. I wonder what you do to push through the hard stuff and keep moving? I admire your strength and determination. Sometimes I sit here and look at the picture I stole from one of mom's photo albums of you, Taylor, and me and I laugh. We're smiling huge at the camera huddled up and you're holding a spray bottle getting ready to spray Mom as she takes our picture. I'm going to guess that you're about 5 so I'd be about 3 or 4. Sometimes I really miss your crazy sense of humor, and it makes me want to come home and visit. I'm sorry I never do. My life is crazy and I really need to do better at making time for the people I love.

I want you to know I've also admired your ability to be different and not roll with the crowd. You'll always be one of my favorite artists, and I still want you to paint me a mural in my house one day. I don't know if you remember me ever asking you to do that. Also, I know this is random, but I'm sorry I drew all over your cool cigar box when we were kids. I was mad at you and wanted to seek the ultimate revenge... I didn't know how upset you'd be when you found out I ruined it. You really were. I'm sorry!

I love you Bryce, and hope you're doing great.

Love your baby sister,
Lana

To Mom, love your little girl....

Mom,

I recently heard this song again, and it reminded me of our trip to Yellowstone when I was little. I just want you to know I love you, and I'm proud of my successful Mama! Here you go, I dedicate this video to you.

Love,
Your Daughter.
