Let me hold your crown, babe.

I know, I know, what's with the sudden influx of posts after a year of ALMOST silence with little intermittent lame posts? And what's with all the emotions behind them?

Well, I took a break. And here I am with lots to say, and not really caring who reads it other than I want you to read it and gain insight into the vast weird/lovely/amazingness that is my mind at the moment.

As many of you who know me know... I'm not a lesbian. But if I were, Sara Bareilles would be the object of my affection. Haha just kidding, but I really do love her. She is one of my absolute favorite artists, and her new cd is no disappointment.

The song I'm posting is her newest single called King of Anything. And to be completely open and emo, I'm dedicating this to all the possible suitors in my past who thought they knew everything, or that their way was right and made it a point to be idiots, and tell me what I should do whenever they wanted to.

Ok that was kind of grossly emo, but we all get that way so... I know you'll forgive me. Ever since this song came out I've danced like no one is watching whenever I hear it, and I've pretty much memorized these lyrics as my new anthem. Oh how I love pissed off girl music and all its feminist glory!!!!

Oh and my older brother is going to roll his eyes at this one too. He hated my last post. Oh well... he still loves me, and what are little sisters for other than to be completely grossly female?

Enjoy. I know you will.

Mine... I wish.

Went to the movie Easy A for the second time tonight. Laughed my butt off, wished I had her red hair, and fell in love again, even though I've been in love since John Tucker Must Die.

I would be eternally grateful if God could fill Provo up with guys that look like him, act like him in his movie roles, and if they would show up at my door with flowers and say... "Lana, I'm pretty sure you're the girl for me. I'm content with letting you figure out if I'm right for you, and I'll even continue to date you while you figure this out, without being pushy or anything. I'll just be here, and be manly, and amazing. " Then he can hand me the flowers, and we'll ride off into the sunset in his car, singing, "don't you forget about me..." from the Breakfast club.

A girl can dream can't she?

Running, running, as fast as we can.

Thursday, September 23, 2010

So........... I'm running. Yes, it's the truth. I've gone running 3 times a week for 3 weeks now. That is 8 more times than I've ever been on a consistent basis before. Thanks! I know it's amazing right?

The best part? I don't hate it yet. The worst part... when I'm tired and don't want to go. LIKE RIGHT.... NOW!

Oh and I did something you're all going to think I'm crazy for. Don't worry, I know I am. I let my grandparents give my number to a guy they know. Don't worry I stalked him on facebook, and yep, I couldn't tell anything about him. Oh well... what is life without a little risk? Even if I don't really care about meeting new guys that much right now. (The weird part is, now that I don't care, they just keep on comin'...) What if I just want to have fun without the drama they tend to cause for like... 7 years? Is that too long to wait to start meeting guys again? Are you sure it is?

My stepdad gave my number to a guy once. He turned out to be really attractive. We didn't end up dating, but at least I can tell my stepdad knows what a good looking guy looks like! (I think some people's parents forget how important it is to think your boyfriend is good looking.)

In other news, I got my very first passport photos taken this week. And you guessed it. They are totally the most beautiful mugshots any person has ever had taken! What is with the "if you smile NO TEETH" rule?! I like smiling with teeth. Otherwise I look really mad. If I smile at you with no teeth showing, I'm either faking it, or I'm pissed and about to unleash. The good news is... I rarely do the 2nd version of this. I don't get that way much.

The bad news is... I need to eat something before I run, and I wish I had a chef. I'm craving fresh caught crab. Mmmmmmm.......

I saved a baby today, I'm not a hero though.

For those of you who have seen What Happens in Vegas, and for those that are seriously missing out, my title is a great line from the movie. No matter how much I watch this movie, it still cracks me up. Here are some clips of my favorite parts. Yes, I do LOL to this movie... literally. OMG! UR A QT.

Whoa... what was that?

Ok... now that normal Lana is back... let's get back to this movie. Unfortunately, I couldn't find as many of these clips as I wanted but these are some funny ones.

Earthquakes, job interviews, and a road trip?.

Saturday, September 18, 2010

My bed is shaking... it's funny, who would've thought moving right next to a train track would give me something I've always wanted, which is to know was how an earthquake felt. I feel a mini earthquake or 5 of them, almost every single time I sleep in my bed. Can you say "mini adventure?"

Something else I've always wanted to know about is what it would be like to move away to a random city and just take up a new life there. I did that once. I should try it again. Lately here in BYU country I feel restless. Not restless as in I hate everyone/thing. I just feel like there is more out there for me.

AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT/WHERE IT IS.

So I am keeping myself busy right now trying to see if the unknown of what/where will reveal itself and I'll have an idea of where to go. The thing is, I can be happy here. I have awesome friends, a great job, and my religion is everywhere. No worries right? Well... if you know me at all you know I crave new-ness... and there are several goals on my life list that need to be accomplished outside of this state for simple reasons really--- they involve traveling. haha!

My newest idea is I'm wanting to take a week off work, rent a car, drive to Boston while sight-seeing the whole way, and then fly back from Boston. It would be safer if I went with someone, and also much more fun! So... who wants to go before it snows like a banshee in the midwest?

Also off on a tangent... people are funny. The more I get to know them, the more I get to know myself. It's a fun experiment, this whole thing we call dating.

I think dating should be more called interviewing for a job. What's funny though is sometimes on my interviews the interviewee thinks he should get hired just
because we happened to have a good interview. Let's pose some questions though:

What if I would prefer the interviewee was hired on for a probationary period of 30-90 days, and then after that we decide upon full time hiring? This would then lead obviously to a pay raise, and benefits. I need to make sure he fits well with the job, his skills are up to par, and that he won't need an intense amount of basic job training.

I don't think I can do that with a full job hiring up front. Because let's face it, if I hire handsome Rob for the job of weatherman on the nightly news, but find out he's never been on TV before, and has only taken meteorology 101, but knows how to use a clicker to change the screen behind him, well... obviously he's over sold himself and we may have a problem. I'll expect him to deliver a flawless weather forecast at 10 tonight and he'll end up botching the whole thing and embarrassing the rest of the news team. He may have to be downgraded to coffee runner and cue cards holder. His pay will have to be reduced or he'll have to be fired and that will just be an awkward day for EVERYONE involved.

But seriously... when did someone tell every job hunter around here that it's either HIRE ME NOW WITH THE BEST PAY YOU OFFER, AND A FULL BENEFITS PACKAGE or I'm walking? What ever happened to the probationary period of job hunting? Whatever happened to the "I'm going to see if I like working here, and make sure this is right for both of us? AND whatever happened to making sure the employee you hire is a good fit for your company?

Comprende? Did I make any sense with that analogy?

Also one more thing... if your roommate is 30 and has a bajillion and 1 stuffed animals on her bed, should you be worried?

Some music

I love this music video and have for a year or two (however long this song has been out). I saw this video one day on a VH1 countdown and thought it was fantastic. I am pretty impressed with sidewalk choreography. Let me know what you think!

A message about a creepy old man stalker. HELP!

Saturday, September 4, 2010

For those of you that have never heard me wonder aloud what I should do to get rid of the man that's been bugging me for 2 years (we will call him Mr. X), I will give you the back story.

It started in roughly the spring of 2008. I was working as a receptionist when one day a quiet man about age 40-45 started working there too.

I worked there until Christmas of 2008, and somewhere in this short period of time, I became the object of his interest. He never crossed the sexual harrassment line, but I will give you a very detailed list of some the most memorably creepy things he has done.

One time I was bending over putting paper in our copier and he complimented me on my back pockets. Apparently they have a design on them that caught his eye... Right...

Another time I was given a very specific compliment, "Hey, I loved the boots you wore last Thursday". Who remembers that?

I mentioned to a lady I work with that I love Anthropologie's clothes but never buy them. So every few weeks an Anthropologie catalog would show up on my desk with the following note "This reminded me of you. Love Mr. X."

I was leaving on a trip to San Diego for a wedding and he left me a picture of a girl in a sarong that said "Have fun at the beach, wish I were going. Love Mr. X."

Another gift was of a printed google map of somewhere in Europe named Lana. He said "Lana, sure sounds like a beautiful place to vacation. Love Mr. X." GROSSSS! Don't google my name at home you weirdo.

Anything I had going on that I may have mentioned to my coworker, he would know about (she was not telling him, but I do have a loud voice). And he'd ask me about it right on the day I was doing it. To which I'd only reply "How did you know about that?" and never answer his questions.

Shortly after I quit in December 2008, I started getting emails to my personal email, which no one at work had, or he'd text me. I never gave him my number.

He'd email me and tell me I was missed at work, and he would walk by my desk and see that I was gone and get sad.
He went quiet for a while after I told him to stop emailing me. He started texting me shortly after that, and his texts at first came every few months. I'd never save his number so sometimes I'd be caught off guard thinking it was a friend. That is my mistake! As soon as I found out it was him though I'd ignore him.
As of late the texts have become closer together. I got one around my birthday in May this year saying, "Hey! Your birthday showed up on my calendar this week. Just thinking about you, are you still around?" Friendly right? NO... I've never been his friend and he's old and creeps me out.
The next text came in July when he asked me if I'd go to the Stadium of Fire with him since he was pretty sure I liked Carrie Underwood. 2 weeks ago I got a text saying "Hey John Mayer's in town next week which I'm sure you know, since I remember you love him. John Mayer always reminds me of you and when we worked together." HOW does he know this?

The last text came 5 days after that one on the night of the concert which I didn't attend. "Hey! John Mayer's tonight, are you here at the concert? I'd love to see you again."

Ok buddy, even if I had been there, I would never EVER have met up with you.

I replied to that last text with the following message, "I would really appreciate it if you would stop texting me."

And here is what I got, "So you are still alive!" And then he proceded to say that he's sorry he's been bugging me but he really values my opinions and has always been impressed with my artistic tastes. He also said it's really hard to find people around here like that. And then he asked me how I felt about the concert since he wasn't impressed with it. WHAT THE?! Was he not listening when I said no more texts?

Uh dude, my only thought is you know nothing about me, therefore you should NOT know that I have good artistic taste. Why does he pretend we are buddies? I have never been friendly with him past professional behavior at work. All I ever said to him at work was "hello" (I worked at the front desk so I had to say hi to everyone), and "Mr. Boss needs you in his office" (obviously I'm removing names). Other than that I avoided him.

What on earth is a girl to do in this situation? Obviously I can't ask him to leave me alone, that provokes further conversation from him. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated...
